Darren came to the Homeless Hospitality Center in July of 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. He spent about eight days in a hotel room before being admitted to the shelter, where he stayed for about one month.
While at the shelter, he connected with many staff who were able to assist him in his job search and in his search for an apartment. He quickly landed a job through the temp agency People Ready and has been working full time ever since. He also does some contracting work on the side, so he definitely stays busy!
With the help of our housing team, Darren moved into his new one-bedroom apartment in late August and was able to purchase everything he needed himself. He loves his new apartment and is very grateful to the Hospitality Center for all the help they provided.
When asked what he would say to people who find themselves in a situation like his, he says that he would recommend the Homeless Hospitality Center to anyone, and in fact has recommended the shelter to numerous individuals since he left.
